Movie Review: Pete's Dragon

 Pete's Dragon (2016) Poster

As you may be able to guess from the title, Pete's Dragon centers around the relationship between a young boy named Pete and a dragon, whom he names Elliot, that befriends him after a tragic car accident. Things get complicated when Pete is discovered in the woods and separated from Elliot by well-meaning community members. Will he get to see Elliot again? How will the people in town react if they find out a dragon exists in their woods? You'll have to watch to find out.

In my opinion, beautiful cinematography is one of the best parts of this movie. 3D made the footage pop and even more exciting. The acting is also well done and makes the story feel touching instead of cheesy. Pete's Dragon includes the acting talents of Bryce Dallas Howard and Robert Redford. The CGI animation and acting combine to make the audience actually believe that this handsome dragon exists and care about what happens to him.

Movie Review: Finding Dory

"Finding Dory" opens with Dory as a very young fish being raised by two loving parents. I had never thought of Dory as having special needs until I saw her as a little one that couldn't remember anything or play normally with other young fish. I thought it was touching how patient and loving her parents were with her and how hard they worked to prepare her for adult life. Sadly, Dory ends up getting separated from them and growing up without her parents. Now that she remembers having parents, she feels the need to find them and brings Marlin and Nemo along for the ride. While the journey could be frustrating at times, it was fun and it made me laugh. Nemo's fish tank friends from the first movie are absent but a new cranky yet lovable octopus, a beluga whale, and a whale shark join the cast. It was fun getting to see one of the most beloved characters from "Finding Nemo" have a movie centered around her. Dory continues to be quirky and lovable. Great film for the whole family!
